At Ireland’s Eye Ferries, we believe the beauty of Howth and the magic of the island should be accessible to as many people as possible. We are committed to providing a safe, enjoyable, and transparent experience. This page is designed to help you plan your visit with confidence.

Getting to the Departure Point

  • The ferry departs from West Pier, Howth Harbour
  • The pier surface is generally flat and level
  • There are shops and cafés at the entrance to the West pier and along the pier down to the pontoon where the ferry departs
  • Public toilets are available at the entrance to the West Pier
  • Free Parking is available at the entrance to the West Pier. (not directly at the boarding point)

Please allow sufficient time to walk along the pier to the departure area.

Boarding The Ferry

Boarding conditions vary depending on sea conditions.

  • Passengers must step onto the vessel from the pier.
  • Handrails are available.
  • Crew members will assist where possible.

For safety reasons, boarding may be declined if conditions make it unsafe.

Important Accessibility Notice

Wheelchair Access

Due to the design of the vessel and boarding conditions our ferry is not wheelchair accessible.

  • Boarding requires stepping from the pier onto the boat.
  • There may be a step up or down depending on tide levels.
  • There is no ramp or lift available.
  • Wheelchairs and mobility scooters cannot be accommodated on board.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Hidden Disabilities and Additional Needs

We welcome passengers with visible and non-visible disabilities and those accompanied by assistance dogs.  Please let us know before your journey so we can make the necessary arrangements. Our crew will do their best to assist you and provide clear information and reassurance throughout your trip. If you have specific needs, please contact us in advance.
